HEATHER LUMLEY
“Work is doing it. Discipline is doing it every day. Diligence is doing it well every day.” – Dave Ramsey
After reading the classic “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki in college, Heather’s eyes were opened to the power of owning real estate. This quickly turned into an obsession in researching how to put those principles into practice, and when student loans were paid off, she launched into the industry, acquiring her first two duplexes at the age of 25.
Continuing to purchase investment properties while running a successful sales career in logistics, Heather learned the importance of understanding a client’s current problems and future desires, and how to fit her company’s offerings into creating solutions for both needs. Alongside of this ability to implement change, Heather already had an innate love for creating systems and organization in life, and she noticed the property management component of real estate fell short in these areas. Hence, The Stepping Stone Group was born in 2013 after teaming up with Ross Lumley and his ability to bring a dilapidated property back to life.
Heather and Ross tested a lot of methods in management to find what worked well on their own 250-unit real estate portfolio. Then, in 2017, they opened up the company’s offerings to third-party property management, as their methods were vetted and valued by fellow investors with the same mindset and financial planning.
Today, Heather focuses on The Stepping Stone Group’s internal operations every day, as well as meeting with new clients to listen and determine if we are the right fit for one another, as she has done so many times in her old corporate job. Heather is passionate about constantly searching for the next way to create a better something: whether it’s a better remodel for tenants, a better ROI for owners, or a better culture for internal employees, today’s operations and protocols can always be improved.
